Job Title: Production Supervisor

Location: Auburn, Maine

Reports To: Operations Manager

Prepared Date: 4/9/2024

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for the overall supervision and coordination of production staff and activities. Will ensure that product demands are met daily. Will ensure that all staff follow quality, safety, and production guidelines. Will assist the Operations Manager with special projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inspect products to verify conformance to specifications and directs setup and adjustments of machines as needed.

Review production schedules and assign employees to production equipment on a daily basis.

Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.

Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.

Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department, or work crew.

Analyze and resolve work problems or assists workers in solving work problems.

Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.

Maintain timely and accurate production records.

Maintain a participative management style.

Encourage ideas from employees.

Communicate and support company status, policies and changes with employees.

Seek clarification of production schedules, customer orders and employee concerns and questions with Operations Manager and Scheduler.

Knowledge of all duties of workers supervised.

Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises 20 to 30 production employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's guidelines, policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of our organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong leadership and organizational skills are required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment

This position is required to work in an environment that is loud due to the numerous machines that are running at one time. This job will require the use of ear plugs and safety glasses in accordance with the personal protective standards for the company.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour
